Oral language competence is a basic prerequisite for functional and prosocial development across the life span (Snow & Powell, 2011 p.5). It is central to interpersonal behaviour (Snow & Powell, 2011 p.7) and is essential in early literacy development (Catts, Fey &Tomblin, 2002).
